Description:

When a student tries to submit their Turnitin assignment, they may encounter an error message:

“The paper you have submitted seems to have an unusual number of excessively long or short words. Please try changing your font and submitting again or contact our help desk if the problem persists” (see image below):

This error is caused when students tries to submit a word document containing copied excel table to Turnitin.

Status:

Turnitin throws an error when it fails to read the content of the uploaded file. More information on accepted file types by Turnitin can be found on Accepted file types and sizes help page.

Workaround:

Convert the document to a PDF before uploading it to Turnitin.
